Given Time

Nine-years old Paul never saw the hit and run driver who killed him. And only briefly glimpsed his guiding angel Serah as she returned him to life. But that miracle left him introverted and withdrawn. Now a schoolteacher, his only motivation is helping his students advance and turning the lot where he was hit into a playground. But when Serah returns, now needing his help, they realize there is much more to accomplish in the limited time they’re given.

Readers comments:

“I laughed and I cried…wonderful!

“It’s a rare, unforgetable reading experience!”

“Author Louis King has a brilliant gift for captivating the reader’s attention, imagination and curiosity.”

“Didn’t think I’d like it. But it became one of those books where you say “I’ll just read one more chapter.” Highly recommended!

I’ve been asked if I have written any other books, and I’ve said yes. But Galactic Pursuit is the only one published and that was ten years ago. As I’ve indicated in my bio, most of my effort for years was focused on plays, teleplays or screenplays.

But Galactic Pursuit was one of those ideas I thought had appeal and was fun to write. Quickly, the plot’s pretty simple. Evil genius from a distant galaxy comes to Earth, pursued by a universe cop called a Probe. They end up in Las Vegas and there the fun and action begins.

What surprised me about Galactic Pursuit was the enjoyment people seem to get from reading it. Here are a few of the quotes. Trust me. I didn’t make these up.

“Great read. When does the next one come out?”

“The way this guy writes set me back in my chair. I love this book!”

“The story is so compelling. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!”

Welcome visitors, readers and relatives.

Glad you found the place. I tidied it up a bit thinking I might get company, either intentionally or not. So a brief introduction to all:   My name is Louis King and as you can see I have a new book out ‘Given Time’. You’ll also note there are two pictures beside the cover so let me explain why—

When the book went to print I discovered that printing any color images would be dull on plain paper. And it would be quite expensive to try and add two glossy pages to the book. So expensive that nobody would buy it.

However, I think the images are helpful once you’ve read the book. And if you’re going to study the Loch Lomond picture, use a magnifying glass if need be. But the red figure is there. Feel free to check out the blogs, mostly older but new ones coming, and sign in if you like any notifications about what I’m working on. You can also send me a note via contact and I’ll respond as soon as possible. Take care and spread the words.

Biography

Like most writers, there’s something inside that has to come out. During and after a difficult childhood, I drafted characters who did better with adversity than I did. They were heroes and heroines, bold and truthful and singular in purpose.

My first work was a play called “The Circus”, a terrible metaphor performed by members of my high school senior class. Out of choice, I played the clown.

As I got older, I did see the humor and drama in life, finding the subtlety to use them. I wrote seven plays over a few years, two of them won regional playwriting awards, and most were successful. But I wasn’t satisifed so I moved to LA intending to break into TV and film. I picked up a good literary agent, and that led to many opportunities but a lot of slammed doors. I did also write several books in those years but did nothing with them except throw them out.

Then a business career dominated the next 35 years. I finally decided to return to writing and “Given Time” is the result. It’s based on a screenplay I wrote fifteen years earlier but it deserved a more fleshed out presentation. Thus, the book. If you like it or don’t, let me know. Go to contact and tell me.

And thanks for visiting, whatever the reason.
